Working in your own Chrome

What the Annulo extension is for, how to install it, how it differs from Annulo’s own browser, and how it is kept safe.

When a local function works on web pages (publishing, collecting, asking an AI chat site), it can use one of two browsers:

Annulo's own browserYour own Chrome
Sign-inSign in once in a window Annulo opens; Annulo keeps the sessionUses the accounts you are already signed in to in Chrome
Several accountsOne browser per account, kept apartOne set of accounts per Chrome profile
Good forSocial media, where you manage several accountsDoubao, DeepSeek, Kimi, ChatGPT on the web, where you usually have one account
NeedsNothingThe Annulo extension in Chrome

Using your own Chrome saves signing in again: these sites often want a QR scan or a code, and again whenever the session expires.

Install the extension
  1. In Chrome, open the Annulo extension in the Chrome Web Store and click "Add to Chrome". Chrome warns that it can "read and change all your data on all websites": every extension using Chrome's debugging interface gets this warning. Annulo only works on sites you allow; see "What Annulo can and can't do" below.
  2. With Annulo running, open Settings → Browser: this Chrome shows as connected, with the profile's name and email.
  3. If your Chrome has several profiles (the ones you switch with the avatar at the top right), switch to each one you want Annulo to use and install it there too. Each appears in Settings → Browser.
The first time a site is used

The first time a local function needs a site, Chrome shows a small window: "Annulo wants to work on this site for you". Click Allow, then Allow again in Chrome's own prompt. That site won't ask again.

With the extension in several Chrome profiles, each shows this window, labeled with its profile. Click Allow in the one signed in to the site, and the others close by themselves.

Only runs started from a page can ask. A schedule that meets a site you haven't allowed fails and tells you to run it once from the page first.

What Annulo can and can't do
  • It works only in new windows it opens itself, never in your open tabs. While it works, Chrome shows "“Annulo” started debugging this browser" at the top; click Cancel to stop it.
  • It works only on sites you allowed. If a page goes to another site, the extension stops working in that window right away.
  • It doesn't read cookies or other sites' data.
  • It only takes orders from Annulo on this computer: the extension and Annulo talk over Chrome's channel for extensions and local programs, which other programs can't pretend to be.

You can see and remove allowed sites in Settings → Browser, or from the Annulo extension's menu in Chrome's toolbar.

FAQ

Installed, but still not connected? Annulo has to be running; check the Annulo extension is on in chrome://extensions; if it still isn't connected, reopen Chrome.

Will the window take over the one I'm using? No, it opens behind and doesn't jump to the front. Don't minimize it: pages in a minimized window slow down.

It asks me to sign in halfway through? The site's session expired. Sign in again in that Chrome, then run it again.
